God's Love is...

We serve a great God because He is a good God. Imagine serving a God who created this world as it is now, evil. It would mean He was an evil God. We would probably not want a relationship with this God, nor would He allow us one. But we serve a God who created a beautiful, good creation. He created us to bear His name, which is holy. And He wants more than anything to have a relationship with us because He loves us.

God's love is real. It's effects are seen daily through His grace. When we begin to see the world as He does, we notice all the things He does for us. Nothing is our own and we are not entitled to anything, yet our Father provides for us and even offers us more than we need. Every relationship we have is a gift. Any success is from the Lord. Our character and anything we accomplish that is good or pleasing to Him is from His Spirit within us. Our health, our unique skills, our looks, our ability to reason, and everything else comes from Him.

The Lord has done more for me than I could have ever asked for. Daily, I see His goodness and grace. Waking up happy is a gift. Being able to truly love others is only from Him. Security is only found through trust in Him because we are not in control of anything. All glory for anything good in our lives goes to our Father who loves us so much. How could this not put us on our knees worshipping Him for all He's done?

Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips will praise You. Psalm 63:3

God's love is also powerful. His love breaks peoples' hearts and causes them to live for His name. Through His love, Jesus was sent in order to suffer on our behalf. We are no longer condemned because our fate was sealed in Christ's death. Through His resurrection, we can now triumph over death also. It has no hold on us because we are seen as righteous to our Creator. What powerful love from a powerful God.

God is love. No one loves better than the God who's very being defines love. So this means that God's love is also perfect and not lacking in anything. He is the only true lover. This post is really a secondary introduction to my series about love. It is to introduce upcoming posts specifically about God's love and its different characteristics. Each post should not only make us feel so secure and loved by a wonderful God (and bring us to our knees), but each should also show us how to love others by focusing on the One who loves perfectly.
