Eternal Perspective

Last week, as I was babysitting one of my favorite little kids in the world, we sat down for 'journal time.' During this time, he is supposed to write a full page on any topic he desires. I decided to join him and this entry is what resulted. As I wrote it, I realized it was something I am passionate about so I have decided to share. Enjoy :)

When I die, I will get to be with my Father forever. I will finally be home. There will be a battle in the end, but God and his army of angels are way more powerful than any power of darkness. After Satan and his workers are defeated, everyone who loved God before they died gets to worship the LORD and love each other on the new earth and heaven. All will be restored to its original state: perfect and good. Since the earth in its current state is not eternal, but only temporary, Christians should not think of it as their home. It is where we wander. We are aliens here doing the Lord's work by loving people. Death is not a scary thing for us anymore. It is a gateway to true Life. On the flip side, those who do not truly know the Father should be scared of death because they have nothing to look forward to, no hope at all. People are in darkness and they are suffering. They do not have true life and the enemy is their master and he is a liar. This should give Christians a passion to love! We should be wasting no time. Our eternal state is secure, but not many others live in this security blanket. Many are trying desperately to fill their souls with things of this world, things that were not made to give them fulfillment. Our purpose is not to work on having the best life because we are already fulfilled and promised a glorious life with Christ. Our purpose here, the reason God does not take us Home right away, is to love those who do not have Him. We are to show what living for Christ entails- a joyful and filled existence. Life truly begins after our flesh dies and is restored. Let us dwell on this constantly to not make this earth our home and to be encouraged to point others to true Life.

I greatly encourage just sitting down and writing. Just write what is on your mind and see where it takes you. Putting thoughts or prayers on paper really helps organize them. It also brings to surface what's truly on your heart and mind. It's kind of a beautiful process (even though mine sounds really cheesy).
