Loneliness

Loneliness is something that happens to us, but I think it is something we can move ourselves out of. I think a person who is lonely should dig into a community, give himself to a community, humble himself before his friends, initiate community, teach people to care for each other, love each other. Jesus does not want us floating through space or sitting in front of our televisions. Jesus wants us interacting, eating together, laughing together, praying together. Loneliness is something that came with the fall.

I love Boy Meets World. It is a show about relationships, ones that are actually plausible. I wish more shows nowadays had characters that were as relatable as these guys. From this series, many people can learn so many important life lessons. Each relationship had rough times, but they pushed through because friendship is worth it. Life is not meant to be lived alone. Community is extremely important, especially one made of God-fearing people who can encourage you and strengthen your faith. Donald Miller's chapter on loneliness in Blue Like Jazz really hit home for me because I have learned the great potential for joy and growth which can come from community. We are not made to live life by ourselves.
